On Monday 19th May, a throng of people assembled for the official opening of two museum displays in Thornbury Town Hall:

Museum volunteers are delighted that Thornbury Town Council has kindly agreed to display the iconic Thornbury Quilt, made in 1900, lost for 113 years, then rediscovered and bought by the museum (thanks to crowdfunding from local people) but impossible to display in the museum because of its large size. The Town Hall is an entirely appropriate place for this wonderful example of the town’s community efforts in 1900 and the town’s sponsorship efforts again in recent years.
Thornbury’s vicar, Reverend Joy, officially opened the Quilt display, which includes not just the beautifully displayed Quilt itself but also an audio-visual explanation of lots of stories surrounding the quilt.

At the same event, Helen Ball, in her first official event as new Mayor of Thornbury, officially opened the museum-curated display downstairs in the Town Hall which tells the history of Thornbury as a borough.
Both displays are free to visit and the Town Hall welcomes people wanting to view them both.
