A passion for collecting
Our museum was set up in 1986 in a former cottage just off Thornbury High St.
The core of the museum at that time was a collection amassed by local Oldbury resident Mary Bruton, pictured here at the age of 20. She had a passion for collecting items of local historical interest.
Since then, the collection has expanded, thanks to the interest and generosity of our local community.
A particularly strong element of the museum’s collection is its archive of historical photographs of the local area. We’re always grateful when people add to it.
