A band of volunteers

The museum has no paid professional staff but is run entirely by scores of volunteers from the local community.

That doesn’t mean we’re not professional though! We work hard to maintain high standards and this has been recognised by Arts Council England who give us Accredited status – the same status as the big national players.

Volunteering here is a sociable business – with cake aplenty!

People commit varying amounts of time – and can choose from a wide range of activities. It’s a bit like the Tardis. A lot happens in a small space!
