If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be a firefighter, now’s your chance to talk to one – and see a fire engine up close too! We’re delighted to be having a visit from one of Avon Fire and Rescue Service’s fire engines at lunchtime on Saturday 23 May.
One of Thornbury’s firefighters is a well-known face on Thornbury High Street. Come and have a chat to him.
You can ask him about the engine or how he trained as a firefighter or why he wears the uniform he does or what equipment he uses…. We expect you’ll have lots of questions!
After that, go into the museum and check out our current exhibition to see how different everything was in the past – from firefighting equipment to uniforms! You’ll see lots of photographs of brave local men who have battled to keep the town safe.
Free entry to the museum for all. The exhibition inside the museum will stay on display through the summer, so if you can’t take it all in at once, you can come back again and again.
